Charge As You Drive

Tests are due to start in September on a 1.5km stretch of the A10 motorway near Paris of equipped with “charge as you drive” electricity chargers placed under the road surface.

This is the first time the technology has been used on a motorway and will be trialed using specially equipped prototype vehicles, including a coach, truck, van, and car.

France Ranked 3rd for Broadband Connection

France ranked as third in the world for having the best fixed line broadband connection in the world, with Lyon topping the list for the fastest city in the world. The ranking by internet testing platform, Speedtest, shows that France came in behind Singapore and Hong Kong with a median download speed of 319.43 Mbps.

Supported by an extensive fibre network, Lyon displayed a median download speed of 347.52Mbps, with Abu Dhabi and Valparaíso in Chile, in second and third place.

As part of plans to improve the quality of speed and phone services, France is currently phasing out the traditional copper wire telephone network and replacing it with fiber optic infrastructure. The copper network is scheduled to be fully decommissioned by 2030.
