Major Disruption to French Roads This Week
Major disruption is expected on French motorways and cities this week, as truck drivers demand wider direct fuel assistance from the government.
According to an article in Connexion, after a breakdown in negotiations between logistics sector leaders and authorities, Paris has seen significant disruption on Monday and blockades of the A7 near Lyon and the A71/A89 near Clermont-Ferrand took place over the weekend. Further action is also planned this week across other parts of France.
The government did announce a 20 cents per litre fuel discount to truck drivers covering the month of April, but the subsidy is only available to a limited number of businesses that can prove they are facing cash-flow difficulties due to the increase in fuel costs. Diesel prices have increased by around 50c per litre since the end of February.
Neer Service will work to re-route their trucks around any disruption and continue to update partners directly on any impact to specific shipments.
