Could You Pass the French Residency Test?

Foreigners arriving in France and applying for residency or citizenship are likely to face increased scrutiny under new rules sent to regional departments by the Interior Minister.

In line with other countries seeking to reduce net migration, under the new rules applicants will be checked for behaviour, financial independence, and required to take a French history and culture test from January 1, 2026.
